The Jay County Boys Club was founded in 1953. In the 1980's the old Portland Armory was renovated and became the new home of the Jay County Boys Club. In the 1990's the girls club was founded.  The center remained the Jay County Boys Club until 2004 when the name and the building got a new look. In 2004 the Jay Community Center had its grand opening for the new addition – the Goodrich Sports Complex housing  two multi-purpose gymnasiums, a new fitness center, reception/lobby area, new locker rooms and showers, and a new walking track.

Today the center serves more than 100,000 visitors a year with programs and activities from toddlers through the senior years. We serve not only local visitors from Jay County, but visitors from several states too!
