Jay Community Center / Boomer Sport
offers Boomer Tennis Academy in the Summer each year.
This academy is an excellent opportunity for the participants
to learn the basic skills of tennis in a instructional
camp environment.

Overview
The Boomer Tennis Academy is for boys and girls in 6th
thru 9th grades. The academy is conducted in two sessions.
Participants are permitted to sign up for one or both
sessions. Both sessions are designed to teach the participants
the basis skills required to excel in tennis. Also,
the rules of the game are taught which provides the
participants with a deeper understanding of the sport
of tennis.

Ready Readers
J.C.C. Ready Readers is a summer tutoring
program for incoming 1st & 2nd graders. It is
designed to reinforce and build upon
kindergarten skills to help the beginning reader.
Children will receive instruction
by certified teachers in small groups of 3 or less in
the
following areas: Reading, Writing,
Phonemic Awareness.
Children are provided with a packet
of books and reading and writing activities to complete
at home between tutoring sessions. The 30 minute tutoring
sessions are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
for 3 weeks
Adult Programs
The Jay Community Center is committed
to continuing to meet the sporting needs and wants of
adults between the ages of 15 and 55 years in Jay County
and surrounding communities. By meeting these needs
through sport, this population segment of our communities
will be encouraged to get fit and remain fit throughout
their adult lives.
Coed Softball League
Ages 9th grade and older
Program Includes Boomer Fall Coed
Softball League
Open to Men & Women from Jay County
& Surrounding Communities
Season August thru mid-October (signup
by early August)
Overview
The Boomer Coed Softball League plays doubleheaders
on Sunday afternoons from late August thru mid October.
All games are played at the softball diamonds at Sportland
Park in Portland.

Softball Tournaments
Periodically the Jay Community Center
conducts both Coed & Men’s Softball Tournaments.
These events will be posted in the Upcoming Events section

Basketball Leagues
Ages 9th grade and older
Program Includes Boomer 5-on-5 Basketball
League
Open to Men & Women from Jay County
& Surrounding Communities
Season December thru January (signup
by mid-November)
Overview
The Boomer 5-on-5 Basketball League plays games on Sunday
afternoons from December thru January.

Basketball Tournaments
Periodically the Jay Community Center
conducts Boomer 5-on-5 & 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments.

Senior Programs
The Jay Community Center is committed
to continuing to meet the sporting needs and wants of
the senior citizen population of 55 years of age and
older in Jay County and surrounding communities. By
meeting these needs through recreation, Senior Sneakers
Fitness Class, and social activities this population
segment of our communities will be encouraged to remain
active, get fit, and find time to be social with others
all with little to no cost associated to the program
or activity.

Card Club
The senior citizen card club meets
in the front conference on the 1st and 3rd Thursday
of the month at 1:00pm.
