Soccer
Jay Community Center / Boomer Sports
offers two levels of youth soccer at various times throughout
the year. Each of these levels of soccer provide each
player with the tools to better understand the game
of soccer and to offer them the opportunity to perfect
their skills of the game.

Boomer Spring & Fall Instructional
Soccer
Spring & Fall Ages Preschool thru
8th Grade
Program Includes Boomer Spring &
Fall Instructional Soccer League
Open to Boys & Girls from Jay
County & Surrounding Communities
Spring Season April thru May (Spring
signup by mid-March)
Fall Season September thru October
(Fall signup by mid-August)
Overview
The Boomer Spring & Fall Instructional Soccer program
begins with league play wherein the players are divided
into teams based upon their skill level in order to
form teams that are as equally balanced as possible.
The Pre-school thru 2nd grade matches
are played in 5v5 small sided format (no goal keepers).
The 3rd thru 8th grade matches are played at either
6v6, 7v7, or 8v8 small sided format (with goal keepers).
The small sided soccer format is used
to encourage players to keep the field balanced and
to learn handling and passing of the ball. Eliminating
the goal keeper for the younger ages requires teams
to learn to play better defense and to keep the children
interested in the sport by encouraging more scoring.
Small sided soccer is an excellent way for young children
to learn the basics of soccer and to develop the skills
needed as they move into more competitive play.
