Jay Community Center / Boomer Sports offers three levels of youth basketball at various times throughout the year. All of these levels of basketball provide each player with the tools to better understand the game of basketball and to offer them the opportunity to perfect their skills of the game.

Boomer Instructional Basketball
Ages Preschool thru 6th Grade

Program Includes Boomer Basketball Academy & Instructional League

Open to Boys & Girls from Jay County & Surrounding Communities

Season November thru January (signup by mid-October)

Overview
The Boomer Instructional Basketball program begins with the Boomer Basketball Academy which provides an opportunity for each player to work on their passing, dribbling, shooting, ball handling, & agility skills. Along with these "skills" sessions, the basic rules of the game are taught as well. The knowledge of the basic rules of basketball is important if the child is to comprehend how the game is to be played. The understanding of these basic rules also helps them to comprehend why they are doing each of the drills performed during the Boomer Basketball Academy sessions. The academy is then followed by league play wherein the players are divided into teams based upon their skill level in order to form teams that are as equally balanced as possible.

Jay County "AAU" Traveling Basketball
Ages 3rd thru 8th Grade

Program Includes Participation in Competitive Leagues & Tournaments

Open to Boys & Girls from Jay County ONLY

Season February thru April & October thru November (tryouts in late December)

Overview
Jay County "AAU" Traveling Basketball is program of the Jay County Boys Basketball Club & Jay County Girls Basketball Club that is administered by Jay Community Center / Boomer Sports. It is open only to boys and girls that are currently attending Jay County schools that feed into Jay County High School. Coaches for the various teams are chosen by the Boys & Girls Varsity Head Coaches at Jay County. The teams then practice and participate in competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the seasons of Spring and Fall of a given year.

Boomer All-Stars Traveling Basketball

Ages 3rd thru 12th Grade

Program Includes Participation in Competitive Leagues & Tournaments

Open to Boys & Girls from Jay County & Surrounding Communities

Season May thru July (tryouts in late April)

Overview
Boomer All-Stars Traveling Basketball is a program which encourages all children to tryout regardless of where they live. The highly selective teams then practice and participate in competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the all-star season.
